Brezovica pri Ljubljani (German: Bresowitz) is a municipality in Slovenia near Ljubljana, at the edge of the Julian Alps. It has approximately 9,300 inhabitants.
The Municipality of Brezovica is the central municipality of the Ljubljansko barje marshland. To the east, it borders with the Municipalities of Ljubljana and Ig and touches that of Velike Lašče. To the south, it borders with the Municipality of Cerknica and, to the west, with those of Borovnica and Vrhnika. Its northern neighbour is the Municipality of Dobrova - Polhov Gradec.
The territory of the Municipality of Brezovica could also be called a "miniature Slovenia" due to its rich natural diversity. It includes thirty square kilometres of the Barje marshland with its isolated "sunken" hills, the Ljubljanica river, a siphonic karst lake in Jezero and the Rakitniška planota with a lake and medicinal climate and sixty square kilometres of forest.
The municipality acquired its present shape in 1994. According to the 2002 population statistics, there were, at the time, 2320 inhabitants in Brezovica, 1842 in Vnanje Gorice, 1497 in Notranje Gorice, 221 in Žabnica, 266 in Podplešivica, 144 in Plešivica, 483 in Podpeč, 641 in Jezero, 4 in Planinca, 183 in Prevalje pod Krimom, 128 in Goričica pod Krimom, 740 in Kamnik pod Krimom, 262 in Preserje, 64 in Dolenja Brezovica, 55 in Gorenja Brezovica and 529 in Rakitna.
The area has been inhabited since ancient times. The famous lake dwellers - described by a Slovene writer, Janez Jalen, in his book Bobri (Beavers) - date back to the times when the marshland was still covered by a lake. Later on, the Municipality was intertwined by Roman roads, traces of which are still visible, near Rakitna for example. The Ljubljanica river was navigated by boatmen. The Romans redirected its river-bed towards Podpeč, a village known for its good quality stone. The vicinity of forests, on the one hand, and of Ljubljana, on the other, has positively influenced the development of [[agriculture]], trade and enterprise in the area. Horse and cart carriers were subsequently replaced by other forms of goods transportation. Many old crafts, such as lime, stone and wood processing, and wickerwork have survived till the present day.

Brezovica is also the name of a popular ski resort in Kosovo, Serbia.
