Image:Ltspkr.pngBreukelen is a municipality and town in the Netherlands, in the province of Utrecht. It is situated to the north west of Utrecht, along the river Vecht and close to the Loosdrechtse Plassen, an area of lakes and great natural beauty. During the 17th century a number of Amsterdam merchant families built opulent mansions along the river near Breukelen.

Breukelen has a population of about 11,000. It is close to the cities of Utrecht and Amsterdam and is connected to both by bus and train. There are also direct trains to Rotterdam. The Amsterdam-Rhine Canal passes Breukelen.

There is a large Van der Valk (Hotel Breukelen) hotel, the façade of which is in the Chinese style. Universiteit Nyenrode is located in Breukelen.

The borough of Brooklyn, New York in the United States, is named after Breukelen (see History of Brooklyn).
