Brennan's Revenge

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Brennan's Revenge are a folk/rock band from Cleveland, Ohio. They were formed in late 2003, at the Beachland Tavern, when Rick Sirl and a few of his friends attended an open Irish music session hosted by The Kilroys. In attendance was co-founding and longest standing member of the band, Alicia, (aka Lishie Comiskey, formerly of the Philadelphia rock band, Comiskey Players).

Over a few beers and conversations galore, it was decided that Lishie Comiskey would join the band. The line-up has changed several times over the years, with members including Josh "Ogre" Jenkins, Bill Jenkins, Zack Mills, Annie Libertini (now of Boston's The Swaggerin' Growlers), Mark Dietrich, among others. The music is heavily influenced by Johnny Cash, The Pogues, Hank Williams, The Clancy Brothers, and many celtic punk bands.

Brennan's Revenge play out mostly in the Cleveland area, in places such as the Grog Shop, Peabody's, Mick's of Willoughby, and The Beachland Tavern and Ballroom. The instruments played by Brennan's Revenge members include the five-string banjo, the tenor banjo, electric bass, violin, tin whistles, the Irish melodeon, drums, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, mandolin, and Rick Sirl provides lead vocals.

Brennan's Revenge have opened for the Brazen Rogues, Murphy's Law, the Tossers, the Kissers, The Boys from the County Hell, Labor Force, Brace Yourself Bridget, Squared Off, Roger Hoover and the Whiskeyhounds, and Darkbuster, just to name a few. Brennan's Revenge can be heard on Paddy Rock Radio. For touring information, be sure to check [Shite 'n' Onions]http://www.shitenonions.com/tours.htm
