Talk:Bracket fungus

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

does the bracket fungus have tonic uses?

1. In the normal sense bracket fungi are tough woody fungi, which do not have gills. So although it grows from the side and may not have a stipe, an Oyster mushroom is not a bracket fungus.

2. The second photo is not of Laetiporus sulphureus! I added a real photo of this mushroom; there are others at Commons:Laetiporus sulphureus.

3. The mushroom of the 2nd photo looks to me a bit like Schizophyllum commune; I think it is tough and woody but has gills (of a sort). I think it is on the edge of being a bracket fungus.
