Brawl of the Wild

The Brawl of the Wild is an annual football game between The University of Montana Grizzlies and the Montana State University Fighting Bobcats. It is RARELY called by this name, in fact, almost none of the students on either campus refer to it using any term other than "Cat-Griz" rivalry or other derivatives. "Brawl of the Wild" is a socially awkward term, but used in official contexts.

The rivalry began on November 26, 1897. The two teams played in Bozeman, MT, home of the Montana State University, when Montana beat Montana State 18-6.

Montana has won almost every Brawl of the Wild since 1985. The Brawl of the Wild is so intense that some years there really have been brawls between players and students. Some people say that the state of Montana literally shuts down for three hours just to watch the game. ^{[citation needed]}

Montana leads the series 66-35-5.
