Branicki's Palace

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Palace of Branicki Family is one of the most notable magnate manors in the city of Warsaw, located at the junction of Podwale and Miodowa Streets. It was built in 1741 by Fryderyk Albert Lessel for Ludwik Mordacz. Soon afterwards it was bought by hetman Jan Klemens Branicki as his residence. Destroyed in 1941 by a Soviet air raid, it was rebuilt in 1967, basing on the paintings of Bernardo Belotto. Currently it houses a museum of literature.
