Bramshott Camp
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bramshott Camp was a temporary army camp set up on Bramshott Common, Surrey, England during both the First and Second World Wars.
The camp was one of 3 main bases in the Aldershot Command area set up for the Canadian Army whilst in Britain.
Further bases were in nearby Bordon and Witley.
In the Second World War, there were actually four Canadian camps in the immediate vicinity, each one given the name of one of the Great Lakes:
- Huron and Ontario Camps on Bramshott Common near to the Portsmouth Road,
- Superior Camp at the Grayshott end of Ludshott Common
- Erie Camp at Headley Down, a mile or two away, in the area now occupied by Heatherlands estate.
