Braine-l'Alleud

Braine-l'Alleud (Dutch:Eigenbrakel) is a suburban Belgian municipality located in the Walloon province of Walloon Brabant, about 20 kilometers south of Brussels. On January 1, 2006 Braine-l'Alleud had a total population of 37,197. The total area is 52.12 km² which gives a population density of 714 inhabitants per km². The famous Lion of Waterloo is actually located on the territory of Braine-l'Alleud
It is twinned with Ouistreham Riva-Bella (France), Menden (Germany), Basingstoke (United Kingdom), Drummondville (Canada) & Slapanice (Czech Republic).
