Captain Bellick is the leader of the Fox River State Penitentiary correctional officers. Bellick has a history of corruption and inmate abuse like putting them with big abusive roommate if they don't follow his rules. (he was on the payroll of mobster Philly Falzone), but none of the claims have been able to be corroborated. Bellick killed Charles Westmoreland's cat Marilyn, when Charles refused to give information on a C.O.'s death during a riot.

On the night of the breakout team's escape, Bellick discovered the hole dug by Michael Scofield and the P.I. crew during their initial escape attempt. Before he could tell anyone, however, he was attacked, tied and gagged by Westmoreland, though Westmoreland received an injury during the struggle that proved fatal in the end. Bellick was trapped in the tunnels under the guard's room and witnessed the escape; after he was found, Bellick swore revenge on the escapees.

[edit] Season 2

Bellick continued hunting the escapees through the night and into the following day. He nearly caught up with them but lost them when they ran across the path of a speeding train. He was resentful of the arrival of FBI Agent Alexander Mahone and of his involvement in the manhunt. Bellick learned of a storage locker Michael had rented before his incarceration, along with several supplies, and quickly assembled all his men to close in on the shed, thinking he had finally located the fugitives. The locker turned out to be an empty decoy, however, and the escapees eluded Bellick once again.

Bellick was terminated from duty by a conduct review committed based on the testimony of C.O. Roy Geary; Geary told the committed that Bellick had sold the PI responsibilities to John Abruzzi, whose crew comprised the "Fox River 8," placing the majority of blame on Bellick for the escape. When Pope was merely docked two weeks pay and put on probation for three months, Pope responded to Bellick's termination by quitting, stating that the blame rested on Michael Scofield. Bellick returned to his mother's house and was moments from committing suicide with his service shotgun when he learned that a $1,000,000 reward was being offered for the capture of the "Fox River 8" ($300,000 for Lincoln Burrows, and $100,000 for each of the rest of the escapees).

Soon after, Bellick ran across Roy Geary at his new job and the two came to blows. After calming down, however, Bellick told Geary of his plan to collect the bounty on the fugitives, and Geary convinced Bellick that teaming up in the effort would serve them both better. They then used a connection at Fox River to interrogate Manche Sanchez, who eventually told Bellick about Charles Westmoreland's dying confession; Bellick and Geary then tailed Nika Volek, who led them to Michael and Lincoln immediately following the car explosion.

Bellick and Geary engaged in a car chase, and forced Michael, Lincoln, and Nika off the road. While rounding the three up, Lincoln managed to move a piece of glass under one of the tires of their car. When it went flat, Bellick took Michael, Lincoln, and Nika off to a nearby shack and tied them up while Geary went to the nearest town for a replacement tire. While there, he made it clear that he wanted the location of the D.B. Cooper money. He also expressed a sexual interest in Nika, who in turn said she could get the location of the money out of Michael. While giving him a lap dance, Nika attempted to get Bellick's gun. She failed, and he secured her again next to the brothers while saying "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice and I'll put you in the ground." A few seconds later he realized his knife was missing, and Lincoln was up holding it to his neck, saying "Fooled ya." After Bellick was secured by the brothers, Geary returned with the new tire, only to be met by Lincoln holding a gun on him. Bellick taunted Michael with the news that Sara had overdosed, and was met with a kick in the face for the news.

Eventually, the two free themselves, and are drowning their sorrows in a bar when they learn of the hostage situation in Tooele. They arrive in the subdivision and question the homeowners. They correctly surmise that T-Bag took the money. They follow him to the house of his old girlfriend in Tribune, Kansas, where they proceed to capture and torture him for the location of the money. After they find the money, Geary attacks Bellick and leaves with the money as an unconscious Bellick lies on the ground. At a Wichita hospital he calls Geary on his cell phone and promises revenge. The threat goes into a voicemail. Later, T-Bag tracks down Geary to a hotel and murders him by hitting him in the head with a bottle. Geary's body is brought to the same hospital that Bellick was at, and the police, upon discovering Bellick's connection to Geary, want to ask him some questions.

After finally getting the truth out of him, they discover the voice email that he left Geary. They then accuse him and arrest him for the murder. After being denied bail at Greeley County, Kansas District court, Bellick is later convinced by his public defender to take a plea for 25 years in prison instead of a possible death sentence, provided that he be sent to a prison near his home in Chicago to be with his mother. He is sent to Fox River and later reveals to C.O. Patterson that he wanted to get sent to Fox River, so he can be moved into AdSeg and have the C.O.s guard him. Unfortunately, he is told that the new Warden, Ed Pavelka, doesn't want him to get preferential treatment and that he is being made an example of. Bellick is then forced to live in the general population ("GenPop") with his new cellmate, Avocado. Avocado welcomes Bellick back home and Bellick realizes he is now the new fish in Fox River and that he's currently surrounded by the very inmates whose lives he made hell.
