Braal Castle

Braal Castle, which rests near the River Thurso in Scotland, dates back to the mid-14th Century. Originally entitled the "Castle of Brathwell", it was granted by Robert II of Scotland to his son, David Stewart, and eventually fell under the ownership of George, Earl of Caithness. In 1450, the castle was bestowed by James II of Scotland upon Sir George Crichton, the High Admiral of Scotland and Earl of Caithness at the time. Upon George's death in 1455, the castle was passed to the Sinclairs, who came close to using Castle Braal's stone for the construction of another structure, but this never occurred, and Castle Braal still stands to this day.
