Boz Shannon
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Boz Shannon, father of Jack Shannon, aka "Kemikal", was born in Bedford and is the greatest player ever to have played for the Rugby Union team, Bedford Blues. He played number 8 during the mid 1980s. His storming runs, great tries and sublime ball-handling skills made him an icon at Bedford where he won player of the season for two consecutive seasons, the only man to do so in Bedford's prestigious history. Young fans hear stories about him today, whilst the older generation reminisce about his playing days. Bedford have had some legendary number 8s, including the great Junior Paramore, but none come close to achieving what Boz did in his playing days. Still regually turning up to support the Blues, most fans see him as a living legend and he will certainly not be forgotton by any rugby fans, young or old, very quickly.
