Boys Suck

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Boys Suck was a Boston-based band that was formed somewhere around 2000 by members of the New York goth-rock outfit Binary Test Record. Originally known for being a sort of smug twee act with a drum machine, keyboard, bass, and acoustic guitar, the band had some lineup changes, which eventually led to it being a primarily solo venture by The Sleepwalker. During this period, he continued to use the moniker Boys Suck and transitioned the band into a solo counterfolk/anti-folk venture. Some time in 2005, The Sleepwalker abandoned the Boys Suck moniker and joined two bands, The Motion Sick and Blitzkriegbliss.

[edit] Notable mentions

Boys Suck has appeared on artist-sanctioned tributes to Jayne County and The Cornbugs (a group made up of Bill Moseley, who played Choptop in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre series, and Buckethead, guitarist for the 2000-4 incarnation of Guns N' Roses).

Pop star Mandy Moore mentioned the Boys Suck website[1] during her MTV program in 2001 inspiring a flock of teenage girls to become Boys Suck fans. This resulted in the Boys Suck song, "(I Can't Take it) Mandy Moore."

The record label Dead Puppy Records put out a Boys Suck tribute album called Out Of Tune.

Boys Suck also made an appearance on a 2003 Wesley Willis tribute album, Loved Like a Milkshake.
