Box Hill High School is a co-educational public secondary school located in the inner-eastern suburb of Box Hill in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

It provides education for years 7-12. Year 11 and 12 students undertake the VCE program. There are currently approximately 900 students enrolled at the school.

Box Hill High School runs an Accelerated Learning Program for gifted students, which teaches the curriculum to these students at a much faster rate. Box Hill was only the second public school in Victoria to introduce such a program; there are now twenty-seven. Entrance to the program is selective, and determined by exams during Grade Six. Within the program, syllabi from Years 7-10 are compacted into three years, after which time students proceed directly into VCE, completing it in either two or three years. Year 9 students in the accelerated program have the option of doing Year 11 Mathematical Methods and/or Biology.

There is also a Model Solar Car Program, which competes every year at ScienceWorks. In 2005 Box Hill High won the Victorian event with the car team LeeLa. In 2006 Kinki came 2nd and AZN PDE came 3rd. On the 30th of November those two teams and others form our school are going to Sydney University to compete in the Nationals.

[edit] Performing Arts

The school, not renowned for the performing arts, has a rapidly improving program within the school. It manages to hold two full scale productions per year, which star students, and even a few staff members. Past productions include The Outsiders, The Importance of Being Earnest, Guys and Dolls, Charley's Aunt and Kiss Me, Kate.
