Bowdon, Greater Manchester

Bowdon is an area in the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford, south-west Greater Manchester, England. It was an urban district in Cheshire from 1894 to 1974. The Office for National Statistics give a population figure of 6,079 for the area in the 2001 census. Bowdon like its neighbour Hale, has exceedingly high property prices and is a popular area with Manchester-based Premiership footballers [citation needed].

Unusually for a district with a population under 7,000, Bowdon has two girls' secondary schools: Altrincham Girls Grammar School, Culcheth Hall.
