[edit] Welcome to the Wikipedia!
Welcome to the Wikipedia, Bourbons3! And thanks for contributing the Larry Drake article.
Here are some perfunctory tips to hasten your acculturation into the Wikipedia experience:
- Take a look at the Wikipedia Tutorial and The five pillars of Wikipedia.
- When you have time, take a look at Manual of Style, and assume good faith, but keep in mind the unique style you brought to the Wiki!
- Always keep the notion of NPOV in mind, be respectful of others' POV, and remember your unique perspective on the meaning of neutrality is invaluable!
- If you need any help, post your question at the Help Desk.
- Explore, be bold in editing, and, above all else, have fun!
And some odds and ends:
Boilerplate text, Brilliant prose, Cite your sources, Civility, Conflict resolution, How to edit a page, How to write a great article, Pages needing attention, Peer review, Policy Library, Utilities, Village pump, Verifiability, Wikiquette
Hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian!
You can sign your name on any page by typing 4 tildes: MetsBot 20:06, 9 December 2006 (UTC). The policy on this, however, is to sign only discussion pages (and not article pages).
Best of luck, Bourbns3, and have fun! jfg284 19:22, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Signing Article Pages
I can understand the type of pride that comes from creating an article from scratch and then improving upon it, but please remember that this is an encyclopedia (and a colaborative effort, as well). As this is the case, signing your user name at the bottom of an entry is not proper editing. It is, however, and easy mistake to make - and perhaps a good one, as well, because it's considered bad for NOT to sign a talk page (something that i forget. often.), and easy enough to rectify on an article page. Good work on the larry drake article. Maybe cruise over to the L.A. Law article and expand it? You seem to have a degree of knowledge about Larry Drake, and if that extends to the show as a whole, your work would be greatly appreciated in expanding the stub.
- a few more suggestions: work with the "show preview" button (directly next to "save page" to see if some coding you entered worked or not. i noticed quite a bit of edits to the imdb link that were easy mistakes to make, and by hitting "show preview," you know before the page is actually permenantly saved.
- secondly, it is customary in the introduction to bold face the subjects name. To do this, type
'''Subject's Name'''
it will appear as Subject's Name you can accent to a further or lesser extent by typing
'''''further''''' or ''lesser'' (five apostrophes and two apostrophes)
- lastly, if you notice a contribution of yours was edited out, check the edit histry (located directly next to the "edit this page button." most editors will leave a nice edit summary about what they changed, and some will explain why (particulary when changing an easy mistake to make made by a new user. If you look at the larry drake history page, you'll notice i did exactly this when editing out your signature previously. No hard feelings, its takes a while to get used to the wikipedia interface. likewise, you should use the edit summary field to describe what you change when you edit an article. this makes it easier for other editors to know what the new version has that the old didnt, without having to compare the two.

[edit] Copyright of Image:PawPrint.jpg
Hi there, thanks for uploading Image:PawPrint.jpg. I noticed that there is some required information missing from the image description. The Wikimedia Foundation has to be very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law. We need you to specify two things on the image description page:
- who created the image
- the copyright status
If you created the image:
If you haven't already, please add a note in the description of the image saying that you created it.
Next you need to choose a copyright license so that people on Wikipedia know what they can and cannot do with your image. There are only a few licenses to choose from for images you created yourself. Once you have decided which one you wish to use, simply copy the tag exactly as shown into the image description. Please note that you MUST allow people to freely use and copy your image (you may apply some conditions to that), else it may not be used on Wikipedia.
If you didn't create the image:
If you haven't already, please provide a URL to the site it came from (or the name of the source if it didn't come from a website) and the name of the person or organisation that owns the copyright.
You next need to add a copyright tag so that other users know how the image may be used. Please browse the list of image copyright tags and determine which applies to the image. If, after browsing this page, you are unsure of the tag to add, please add a {{Don't know}} tag to the image description and someone will help you choose the correct tag.
Please note that if you do not choose a copyright tag for the image within seven days, it will be deleted. Please could you ensure that any other images you have uploaded also have the above information in the description - you can see a list of the images you've uploaded by clicking on My Contributions and selecting Image from the drop-down box. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on my talk page. Thanks! --David Johnson [T|C] 21:52, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Cross country running woman
Hey,I noticed you uploaded that image, saying all rights are released. That's great, but could we have some source data, like whether you took it or something? --maru (talk) Contribs 18:27, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] The EU-sceptic userbox on your main page...
I've got to hand it to you Bourbons3, that is the best userbox i've ever seen and I wish so much It was a real userbox. J.J.Sagnella 09:18, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for your response at Userboxes Ideas. I'm sorry if I seemed to be getting angry. Thanks for your work and happy new year. --Think Fast 14:57, 1 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] userbox policy
Hi - the incorporated #7 has been incorporated back into #4. Once it is confirmed with the guy who created #6, #7 will be removed. On this basis, I'd be glad if you could move your comments regarding #7 to #4... obviously re-read it first but it is basically the same thing. Deano (Talk) 19:37, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Template deletion
Regarding the deletion of Template: user football player I disagree with your interpretation that the Template Template: user american footballer is "virtually identical." I find that template to be utterly disrespectful to the game of (American) football. American football players are not called footballers, as may be their European counterparts. Furthermore, the manner in which the template describes the European game of football as the "real" version is very much condescending to the game. I do not disapprove of the template in particular, because I believe that the user who created that template should be permitted to keep it if s/he so chooses. Nonetheless, I disagree vehemently with the message that this template generates. Niffweed17 21:15, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use images on templates
Hi. You recreated the templates Template:User SNP and Template:User Plaid Cymru which both contained copyrighted images upon which the fair use doctrine was being claimed by Wikipedia. The fair use doctrine for us only applies for educational purposes, which does not include stuff used outside of the main namespace (even the Main Page probably can't have fair use images). Please try to remember not to include fair use images in userboxes or your own user space again, as it is a breach of copyright. I have removed the images from the template on your behalf. - Mark 01:40, 4 January 2006 (UTC) (edited 01:48, 4 January 2006 (UTC))
[edit] My Request for Adminship
Greetings, Bourbons3! I wanted to sincerely thank you for voting in my RfA, which passed with a final result of 55/14/3. Your support means a lot to me! If you have any questions or input regarding my activities, be they adminly or just a "normal" user's, or if you just want to chat about anything at all, feel free to drop me a line. Cheers! —Nightstallion (?) 07:39, 4 January 2006 (UTC) |
[edit] cats
I noticed you comment on the WP:MD for the userboxes - you might like to know the associated cats are now on WP:CFD. --Doc ask? 19:56, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] semiprotection?
Are you aware that placing {{sprotect}} on your page does nothing regarding the actual protection of the page? Its just a template that admins place on pages so editors have some warning that their edits won't be accepted, and so we know what pages are protected. Your page doesn't have any protection on it atm, and I'm not sure that sprotection would stop some of the people vandalizing your page. :/ --Syrthiss 15:44, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
- Well, you can request page protection at WP:RFP...tho you seem to have at least one admin (me) watching your page already who could apply it if we felt it was warranted. It certainly wouldn't protect you against vandalism by Omi007 (talk • contribs), just anons and new accounts. At the moment the vandalism isn't heavy enough for me to feel I need to apply semiprotection, but its your perogative whether you want to request protection at the link above.
- I'm interested in your link to Omi007 though. Why did you edit their userpage back in december? Thats very bad wikiquette, even if you are adding positive comments...and positive comments that are only slightly changed by the user when they discover them is even more odd. --Syrthiss 15:58, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

- Fair enough. :) --Syrthiss 17:39, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My RfA
Hi, I just want to say thanks for supporting me on my request for adminship! It passed by a 58/3/0 margin, so I am now an administrator. If you need me to help you out, or you find that I'm doing anything wrong, please don't hesitate to contact me. --Idont Havaname (Talk) 20:17, 6 January 2006 (UTC) |
[edit] You have been blocked
You have been blocked indefinately per Jimbo Wales. Copyright violation is something we take very seriously on Wikipedia. Uploading copyrighted images as "(Self-made on MS Paint)" is easily proven a lie. ALKIVAR™ 21:35, 15 January 2006 (UTC)
