Boston University Academy

Boston University Academy, founded in 1993, is an secondary school (grades 9-12) affiliated with Boston University and located on its Charles River campus. As of 2005 it has 156 students and 22 teaching faculty members. It has a liberal arts-based curriculum emphasizing the humanities and science, while specializing in the classics. Students in the upper grades attend some courses at the University, and can graduate with a college transcript of up to 48 credits. BU Academy's average SAT scores have consistently been among the highest in the nation.

Noteworthy faculty members include:
- Headmaster James Berkman, a graduate of Harvard University and Oxford University, who has been an independent school administrator since 1984.
- Math instructor Gisele Zangari, 1990 recipient of a Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching Mathematics.
- History professor Dr. Richard Horn, a graduate of Harvard University, Dartmouth College, and Princeton University.
- Math instructor Danielle Passno, graduate of Dartmouth College.
- English and History teacher Philip Gambone, a graduate of Harvard University. He taught at the Park School in Brookline for 26 years prior to teaching at the Academy.
- Physics professor Gary Garber, a graduate from Haverford College and an instrument rated private pilot.
- English Professor Brian Baise, graduate of Princeton, published author, and Metcalf Award recipient.
- Philosophy and History professor Dr. James Davis, graduate of Boston University.

Student activities include Model United Nations, Fencing, Robotics, Soccer, Basketball, ultimate, Dance Team, Yearbook, Science Team, Nerdly Games (Miniatures and Dungeons & Dragons), Sailing, Music Diversity club, Social Issues group, Opera Club, Math Team, Chess Club, Environmental club, Literary Magazine, LitCafe, BU Academy Press, Art Club, and Gallery Hoppers, among various others.

The Academy is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and is a member of both the Secondary School Admission Test Board and the Association of Independent Schools of New England.
