[edit] Model comparison

The Lifestyle media center and Acoustimass module is the same for each model, with the playback unit having the ability to archive CDs for on demand and customizable random playback in the 38 and 48 models. The Acoustimass module is basically the subwoofer of the unit. The speakers for each model vary the most. The 35 and 48 models come with Bose Jewel Cube speaker arrays while the 28 and 38 models come with Bose Direct/Reflecting speaker arrays. Both these speakers provide the Direct/Reflecting sound that Bose pioneered.

The key feature that the system has is the ADAPTiQ audio calibration system which allows for the system to adapt to each room. So a large room will sound just a good as a small room.

[edit] Selling the System

The system is currently sold at most major mass market consumer electronics stores and at online, phone, and in Bose stores. Several of the Bose stores feature a small theater which has a short 11.5 minute film called "True to Life" followed by a lengthly demonstration/sales pitch to demonstrate the system. The system used is a Lifestyle 48 and the movie is projected via LCOS projector (depending on the store). At one point in the show a three sided box is used to simulate the ADAPTiQ audio calibration system automatically adjusting to correct the sound in the room. There is a promotion based around these systems every year, generally December is the best time to buy one. Also, Bose stores carry refurbished units at 10% off retail pricing. These units have the same warrenty as new product. And the stores offer free shipping.
