[edit] Things I'd like to post on Wikipedia
[edit] Einstein
A Jewish note depicting Einstein as far more Jewish-looking than he actually was.
[edit] re: PayPal
The page to consider is Wikipedia:Criteria for inclusion of biographies. (Though I believe they've moved it to a new pagename recently. The driving question is whether we will ever have enough verifiable, independently sourced information about him to support a neutral article which can be expanded past the level of a self-evident stub.
Remember that we are defining "key person" from the point of view of an international encyclopedia. I suppose you could argue that he's known enough to list on the PayPal page even if he will never deserve an independent biography. But that information will get stale very quickly. Anyone interested in looking up the bank's officers should really go to their annual report.
Hmmm... Thinking about this a bit more, perhaps there's another way to provide the information but to do so in a way that will always stay current. Could/should we perhaps replace the "key persons" line with this link?
- Key persons: Officers
On a technical note, I have to disagree with your statement that "PayPal isn't a bank". They are regulated as a bank, they are managed as a bank and they offer banking services. See this page for evidence of the regulatory opinions that they are and must be regulated as banks.

[edit] Emerson
I'm afraid I'm going to revert the preference you made in favour of the standard alphabetical order. Incidently I've never heard of the guy so this would become very POV if we don't stick to the standard.--Rjstott 05:09, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
- Fair enough, and I guess it is POV in my case, because I hear about him every day. Also, I suppose you'd want to revert my redirect from Emerson--> Ralph Waldo Emerson, and the move of Emerson--> Emerson (disambiguation) -Bordello 05:11, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Paypal
I'll be doing some editing tommorrow and I'll have a chance to go through the links to see what fits and what doesn't. As far as a rating goes, I'm not sure how that works. I think you'd have to check the associated project page for what the requirements are, and if the rating has to be achieved through concensus or what. I've never gone through the process of having an article rated on any project yet so not something I'm entirely familiar with.--Crossmr 04:36, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Jazz
Aha, you've encountered the familiar phenomenon of the jazz snob :) .... like a lot of niche musics, it does seem to attract a lot of people who appoint themselves experts on what jazz is, what jazz is worthwhile, & who is able to appreciate it. (Leonard Cohen called them the Jazz Police.) -- As you've discovered jazz like other musics is among other things about community & sharing opinions & enthusiasms: best thing you can do, aside from following the live music in your area & getting recordings, is to hang out on some of the better jazz discussion boards. I like Organissimo (not too many trolls or jazz snobs). ND 07:07, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Asterisks
Hmm... Thanks for that, but what does the "small" "pink" kind mean? Do they have any meaning other than a principle of variation? You might want to clarify that on your user page.Non-vandal 06:08, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- No problem for catching your goof. Nietzsche deserves a lot more credit than he usually gets, and there is a lot that could be put on Wikipedia about him. Anyway, I'm not bothered with the pinkness of that asterisk you gave me - I was just curious about the coloration you decided on. Have a good one.Non-vandal 08:32, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Bloom
Am I missing something? If NYU says he holds a position, why do we need to qualify it? From looking at the talk page it looks like it has been sourced that he holds a position at NYU. It looks like an editor has been arguing that the source should be ignored for some reason. What is the problem? ( I don't mean to be short, I am confused.) Levi P. 19:07, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- I did some more research as well, and have been unable to find anything which contradicts the numerous reputable sources that say he holds a position there. In fact, everything I can find, from Bloom's books to NY Times articles to the NYU website, all say he holds a Berg Prof. The only person (thus far) saying otherwise is the one editor who strongly argues against it, but adduces no proof to back it up. Let me know if you discover anything. Cheers. Levi P. 18:49, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Mediation on Nietzsche-Petrejo
Hello, I offered my opinion on this issue on the case page and would like your input on my suggestion. --Marinus 12:59, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
