Borujerdi dialect

The Borujerdi dialect is the variety of the Luri language spoken in Borujerd city and surrounding areas in Lorestan Province of Iran. Borujerdi is a bridge between Persian and Luri language and contains features of both of them. Dehkhoda categorizes this dialect as a part of Luri and considers Luri as a dialect of Persian. However, this dialect is totally distinguishable from Luri, Laki language and Bakhtiari dialect . Borujerdi dialect contains many words from ancient Iranian languages e.g. Middle Persian (Pahlavi) language. It contains traces of Kurdish, Turkish and Arabic too. Borujerdi dialect is spoken in Borujerd City and more than 200 villages around it. People of Malayer, Silakhor plain and somehow Dorood speak in a very similar way and altogether a population of 0.8 to 0.9 million speak in Borujerdi, Malayeri and Silakhori dialects or accents.
