Borough of Queenscliffe

The Borough of Queenscliffe is a Local Government Area in Victoria, Australia. It is located in the southern part of the state, south-east of Geelong on the Bellarine Peninsula. It has an area of 12.0 square kilometres and contains the townships of Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale. In 2001 it had a population of 3,506. It is the smallest municipality in Victoria in both area and population. Its current mayor is Chris Player; the borough has no deputy mayor.

It is the last Borough left in Victoria, and was the only LGA to escape change in the mass Victorian municipality reorganisation of the early 90's. This was enacted by Liberal Premier Jeff Kennett. Had the same rules which applied everywhere else in the state been applied to Queenscliffe, it would have become part of the City of Greater Geelong.
