Boris Asafiev (1884-1949) was a composer and writer.

Boris Asafiev lived in the Soviet Union where he had a strong musical influence. His writings include "The Book about Stravinsky", and "Glinka". His compositions were mainly ballets and guitar compositions, and include "Flames of Paris" based on the French Revolution. Also The Fountain of Bakhchisarai, first opening night 1934, performed at the Mariinsky Theatre in S:t Petersburg 2006.
