[edit] Truly impressed

BoojiBoy, I am truly impressed by your work ethic in regards to hockey. You remind me of myself last summer when i used to spend 6 or 7 hours a day on hockey wikipedia (as opposed to less than an hour now). Keep up the good work and don't burn out like I did! Masterhatch 01:00, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

Funny story, when i first saw an edit of yours come up on my watch list, i thought you were a friend of mine who used to edit wikipedia. I thought this not because "BoojiBoy" is similar to my friend's user name but because it is similar to a profanity in Korean and he uses that profanity as his ID in an online game that he plays. Of course, he never edited hockey and your user page is nothing like what he would do. Anyways, i just thought i would share that with you. Masterhatch 02:09, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] About the Anti-Stub guy

Is he really allowed to conspire like this? -- User talk:Gareth Owen#Ice Hockey ... it seems as if he is getting a little too malicious. I tell you, I hate dealing with people like this... they just seem to want to piss on my hard work. I've been putting in many hours a day on almost 20 different leagues... it is very discouraging to see people parading around like this. He's practically ranting on the AfD Article now and I really just can't believe it. DMighton 09:22, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

It's not conspiring - its trying to work together to improve WP by removing the non-notable articles. Robertsteadman 09:26, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
It's also NOT ranting - its trying to put things in perspective. And just because you've done loads of work doesn't make mit notable... Sorry! Robertsteadman 09:27, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
Mr Steadman, I myself nominate a fair amount of articles for deletion and I understand your concerns, but "junior" hockey in Canada is pretty big. The Thunder Bay Northern Hawks are the biggest junior team in a city of over 100,000 people and draw a good thousand people a game. Obviously the article does not make allegations of notability right now, which is why it is a STUB. Give WP:HOCKEY time to flesh it out. BoojiBoy 12:54, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
Booji, you know what... the guy has been a wikipedian for about a month and has already got blocked twice. The guy is only here to cause trouble... you saw it on the Wikiproject talk page... the AfD page... and you can read his plans here [1]. I am going to take a nap because I've been up all night listening to this all-star attack me with his tough Weregerbil buddy -- but please, for the sake of everyone... drag him to an Admin. Later man. DMighton 14:20, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
There you go, he is calling your bluff. DMighton 14:26, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
Follow your own advice and ignore him everywhere. Let it roll off your back like...um, pucks through a five-hole.  RasputinAXP  c 14:52, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
Well, I just got off of work and found that the hockey stub was designated as a "Keep". But, of course, our good friend Rob decided to push for a Merge now. I also noticed that an admin dropped the complaint about Rob that you posted. He said that there are possibly 2 other places that it should be sent to. DMighton 00:37, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
I posted an RFI because of a problem with trolling, and he was warned by an admin. I have no interest in getting further involved with him and consider the matter closed. BoojiBoy 00:42, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
I didn't hear about the warning, but if it is taken care of... then excellent. I don't know... I just found all this stuff out in the last 30 minutes. DMighton 00:47, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
Quote: "Robert, remain civil. You're fully aware of what trolling is, and you're fully aware you're doing it now. I'm relatively sure you have no desire to contribute constructively to hockey articles. Make your case on the AfD on Thunder Bay and step back. Trolling the talk page of the Wikiproject is not the way to conduct yourself. RasputinAXP c 14:30, 19 June 2006 (UTC)" BoojiBoy 00:49, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
I'm glad he was warned. It's too bad he won't just back off and let sleeping dogs lie. DMighton 04:14, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] English names versus non english names

Hello Boji [sic] Boy! I was wondering if you could chime in your opinion here Talk:Plzeň about a possible article move. Masterhatch 02:39, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] OHL disambiguations

Sorry, I just figured that if a minor league hockey coach who won one award 20 years ago wasn't worthy of an article now, he probably never would be. That was my rationale, at least. And why did you remove the George Burnett (hockey coach) disambiguation? Is that not the same George Burnett? -Skudrafan1 17:44, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

That was a mistake, sorry. BoojiBoy 19:37, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Duncan MacPherson

Updated DYK query On June 24, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Duncan MacPherson, which you created. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.
  • Thanks so much for the contribution. Look forward to more hockey related DYK's. Cheers -- Samir धर्म 04:37, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 1997 NHL Entry Draft

I would hope that someone who cared enough about Robert Dome or J-F Damphousse to create his page would have the initiative to go to the draft page and re-create his link. My theory was that (much like my theory about the OHL Trophy pages) if a player hasn't become WP-worthy nine years after the draft, I'd rather not have to see his ugly red link. Well, again, just my opinion. -Skudrafan1 20:35, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

I'm not denying that these players, and others, may very well get pages some day. But, like I said, I would hope that someone who cares enough to create it would then understand that he needs to be linked from other pages, such as the relevant draft page. I'm not trying to be sarcastic or abrasive here; I'm just stating my reasoning for what I did. -Skudrafan1 20:50, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
OK, I'm ready to let this drop. I just have a thing against red links, but I'll try to grit my teeth and wade through them, at least on the NHL draft pages. And way to go on creating the Curtis Lescyhysynhshcynhn page, or however that dude spelled his name. -Skudrafan1 20:56, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
Jean-Francois Damphousse and Robert Dome pages created. :) -Skudrafan1 21:29, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I have removed the merge tag from Thunder Bay Northern Hawks

Consensus has been reached. The only person post-AfD who wants a merge is Rob. It's gone on for five days, and the AfD was another five days previous. The matter is closed. If you feel that this is a horrible miscarriage of justice, go ahead and file an RFC. It's time to move on. I'm posting this to associated users' talk pages as well. you know, this has really torpedoed my wikibreak  RasputinAXP  c 15:59, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for injecting some sanity. BoojiBoy 16:09, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
Booji, could you do me a favour and e-mail me... my e-mail is configured through the "E-mail this User" function on my User Page. It really doesn't have a lot with anything we are currently dealing with... but it is something I'd like you to know... you might enjoy it (in a hockey sense). DMighton 03:57, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
It says "This user has not specified an email, or has chosen not to receive it". BoojiBoy 03:59, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
Try now. DMighton 04:21, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
Sent, hope you are interested. DMighton 04:09, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
Okay... I've sent a new one... I hope you get this... it is from a Yahoo address. If it isn't there right now... maybe it is in your junk filter... DMighton 03:50, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] NHL venues

That's fair. Neutrual site arenas aren't going to be included in the category, what about arenas where a team played a "home" game that wasn't their official home? Examples include Buffalo playing in Rochester and Tampa Bay playing in Orlando. These weren't offical neutral site games as the teams themselves moved the game to the neutrual location as opposed to the league. --FrankCostanza 18:01, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Perhaps a subcategory would be a good idea. As long as it only includes regular season sites a la Commonwealth, Rochester, Tokyo, etc. I was only going to include the sites where regular season neutraul site games were played. A list of exhibition venues would indeed be too long. That would include arenas in virtually every major and semi-major city in North America, as well as many in Europe and a few in Japan.
--FrankCostanza 18:27, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Birthplaces

True, but both of them, especially Nilsson, spent most of their lives in Sweden. Plus Nillson played for team Sweden before, which should count him as being Swedish, not Canadian.

He represented Sweden at the 2003, 2004, and 2005 World Junior Championships

I was trying to put dual nationality for Steen (inhis profile), but it does not seem to work. Could you help me on that one please?

[edit] Embro, Ontario

This is a real place; obviously it needs work (i.e. to be written) but it is a real place. BoojiBoy 18:14, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

Please check the edit history[2]. It's a self-reverted vandalism and that's all. What do you want to keep? It should be deleted now, and it can be recreated with actual material any time later. --Zoz (t) 18:24, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
Hello, BoojiBoy. I've deleted Embro, Ontario despite your {hangon}. The article's content before blanking was "(name deleted) lives here he is gay!!!!". This has to be deleted from the edit history. Sigh ..... -- PFHLai 18:30, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
Sure, that's fine, I didn't check the history. I just figured an article about a real place shouldn't be speedied. BoojiBoy 18:56, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
Please free feel to write a real article about this place. :-) --PFHLai 19:11, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Jr. Canadiens

See discussion on my talk page. Also look at the archived discussions. Thanks. Flibirigit 16:58, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Masterhatch thingo

This block should be ended immediately, Masterhatch was following specific conventions outlined at Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Player pages format#Use of diacritics and non-English characters. BoojiBoy 02:30, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

That is not only a proposed policy, but it is against community concensus as well as already defined policy. He's had several people ask him to stop. I suggest taking it to the WP:AN/I notice if you wish to further discuss this. ShaunES 11:26, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ducks

I know this isn't democratic... but why don't we go through player-by-player and just switch them? Hell, I'll do it if you're not interested. Or I can go A-M and you go N-Z. DMighton 03:23, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

Because I'm pissed off at Wikipedia right now and not willing to fight any more battles here. It's just not worth my time. CFD it again and I'll support it but I'm not doing it manually. BoojiBoy 03:28, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
I didn't know they blocked Masterhatch, I don't see any real reason why he should have been blocked... the policy on diacritics was heavily dicussed on the WP. DMighton 04:01, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] barnstar!

hey, thanks for my first barnstar. That was cool. Masterhatch 15:19, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for the GA nomination for Labatt Park

BoojiBoy, thanks for the GA nomination for Labatt Park last March. (It took me a while to learn about it.) My understanding is that the nomination failed due to the absence of visuals. Well, I have plenty of hard copy visuals of Labatt Park (both historic and more recent), but I don't own a scanner and frankly, don't know how to transfer ones that I do have digitial access to, into the story.

Recently User:TheGrappler helped me load two public domain images onto the article, plus another photograph that I personally took, by dropping them onto my talk page and then I copied and pasted them into the Labatt Park article.

Recently, a friend e-mailed me two other images that would look great in the Labatt Park article (1. Fergie Jenkins' retired London Major jersey and a pic of the "Beam Clay Award" plaque at the front gates of Labatt Park (Best Natural Grass Baseball Diamond in 1989-90).

I hate to impose, but if I e-mailed these two images to you, could you drop them onto my talk page? My e-mail address is banddwells@execulink.com. I've read the instructions about how to upload images but I'm afraid I've been hit with too many errant baseballs in my life to understand them. Best regards. Barry Wells 21:10, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Email sent. BoojiBoy 04:11, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Trees

I'm happy with your "deprodding" motivation and I won't contest it. I would suggest, however, that you put this motivation on the Trees (band) talk page to alert other potential "prodders". --Bruce1ee 06:11, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fincups

Please see Talk:Fincups (OHL), and comment there. Thanks! I prefer the first of the three options. Flibirigit 15:37, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

I forgot to mention having Category:Fincups (OHL) alumni also renamed. How do we go about getting this done? Flibirigit 02:50, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
That one I actually prefer to keep where it is - there must be some players in that category that never played in Hamilton. You can nominate it at WP:CFD if you want though. BoojiBoy 02:52, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Since, the (OHL) is incorrect...What do we want to rename it to?Perhaps simply Fincups alumni? I'd nominate, but I'm not sure what syntax to use for the CFD. Flibirigit 02:57, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Honestly, I would still rather not worry about it. The people at CFD hate using "alumni" and we could see it renamed something horrible. The intent of the category is clear enough. BoojiBoy 13:32, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] New hockey article maintenance

It won't be perfect, but I just say we add anything we notice. If we get it going, I suspect that many project members will just instinctively add their own articles when they create them. Other than doing this manually, I can't think of a way of keeping it up to date. Yes, some will slip through the cracks. But at least we will get the benefit of a few more eyes on the ones that we do identify. -- JamesTeterenko 16:24, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Two images sent

BoojiBoy, did you receive the two images that I sent to you by e-mail? Best regards. Barry Wells 21:27, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

No, I didn't, not yet anyway. BoojiBoy 21:29, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
Resent this afternoon. Barry Wells 23:08, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
Resent today, right after I had lunch with Frank Mahovolich and Bobby Baun.Barry Wells 18:53, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Paul Fendley

Thanks for your recent edits to the Guelph Storm article. If you have any more information about Paul Fendley, could you please add it to the Guelph CMC's article in the "Players" section. Thanks! Flibirigit 04:17, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WatchlistBot

I'll put it on my to do list and let you know when it's done. Ingrid 23:42, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Okay, I'm ready to work on your request although not tonight. Would you like me to tag all articles in all tagged categories, or just Category:Ice hockey (perhaps that's the only tagged category, I haven't checked). The bot is set up to tag all articles in all tagged categories, but it wouldn't be hard to modify it. Also, would you like me to create a formatted list of pages that are in the project? You can see some examples from the links at User:WatchlistBot. And finally, would you please put User talk:WatchlistBot onto your watchlist, and help reply to any complaints if any come up. Ingrid 01:17, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
I was just about to get started, but it occurred to me that it might be wise for you to check out the list at Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Articles. There's a link near the top that you can use as a project watchlist (although your project may have too many articles to have just one watchlist). But there's also a list of categories. Please let me know if you think any of the categories should not have very article in it tagged. A few incorrect taggings is no big deal, but I'd like to avoid mistagging a large number of articles, if possible. Ingrid 21:58, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

I think everything in that subcat needs tagging. If it's related in any way to ice hockey it's under that project's span. BoojiBoy 22:08, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Tagging is done. The article list has been updated. I regularly update the article list. I will try to retag every so often too. If you notice that either hasn't happened for awhile, feel free to remind me. Ingrid 14:14, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Mathieu Chouinard

Hey, BojiBoy [sic], you have done a great job in player article creation, but please only redirect players to List of NHL one gamers if they meet the criteria at the top of the page. Mathieu Chouinard shouldn't go there quite yet. Thanks Masterhatch 02:24, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

What standard? The one that says, "This is a list of ice hockey players who have only played one game in the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1917-18 to 2000-01."? Who picked those entirely arbitrary years and why? It doesn't say. Chouinard played one game in the NHL; if he plays more, someone can write an article about him. BoojiBoy 02:42, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
When i created that article last year, my intent was to create an article of players who have only played one NHL game that most likely will never play again. I had figured that five years was a good number. If a player hadn't played in five seasons, the chances are quite slim he wont' play again. For example Konstantin Pushkarev has played in only one game (during the 2005-06 season), but it isn't a good idea to add him to the list because there is a good chance that he will play again. Even though it has been quite some time since Mathieu has played there is still a chance (however remote) that he might play again at the NHL level. Basically, i chose five years so that we dont' have to delete names off the list. After every season, i go and update the list. If you feel that five years isn't a good number, then let's talk about it on the talk page. Masterhatch 03:09, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
That's a decent enough explanation but that wasn't there. Besides, Chouinard played in the friggin' LNAH last year, that to me is a pretty good sign he'll never get near another NHL rink without buying tickets. BoojiBoy 13:19, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for the help

Thanks BoojiBoy for your assistance with the images. I've sent the image of the Jenkins jersey three times but I'll resend it again. I think that I'm supposed to register these images with WikiMedia-Commons, right? Otherwise they could be removed. I tried to do the Beam Clay Award plaque in the Commons, but it didn't seem to happen. Barry Wells 17:08, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

BoojiBoy, I've also sent you (today) a team photo of the 2006 London Majors, as well as the Jenkins jersey #31. Let me know if you're interested in Guy Lafleur's 1975 jock strap. Best regards. Barry Wells 21:28, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] QMJHL revisions

I decided to go nuts redoing the QMJHL introduction and comparison to other CHL leagues. I think the article needs vast amounts of history added to it, or a separate history article such as Ontario Hockey League history. Let me know what you think of the changes. Flibirigit 18:17, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Belarusian/Belorussian

I know that you are a big fan of the London Knights but I thought that it would be useful for you to realize that Belarusian and Belorussian are interchangeable. I wrote the article about Sergei Kostitsyn on my own and I would prefer it if you would not change "Belorussian" to "Belarusian;" I wish to spell it however I feel. HockeyPrincess 14:43, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

  • You don't own the article. If you don't want your writing edited mercilessly then don't submit it. BoojiBoy 15:41, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
