Booburn (ブーバーン Būbān?) is one of the of Pokémon creatures from the multi-billion-dollar[1] Pokémon media franchise – a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards and other media, created by Satoshi Tajiri. The purpose of Booburn in the games, anime and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon, untamed creatures encountered while the player passes through various environments, and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers.

Its name comes from the English words "booby", a kind of sea bird, and "burn". "Boo" may also be derived for "Boom," a common onomatopoeia for the sound of an explosion.

[edit] Appearance

Booburn seems to be a buffed up humanoid version of Magmar. Booburn entire tail is now completly on fire upon evolution. It has three sharp rows of claws on it hands that retract to transform into powerful cannons, similar to Mega Man. These cannons are capable of firing 2000 °C (3632 °F) fireballs. Booburn has a more humanoid face than Magmar, losing its duck-billed like mouth and being replaced with pink lips. Its body is large and wide with striped yellow and red flame markings wrapping around it. It has two red flaming shoulders and a single, large red and yellow flame on top of its head. It has pink thighs wich are smaller in porportion to its own body. Booburn has two rows of pink spikes running down its back. Booburn also has black metallic bands around it legs, and neck, just like Magmar, as well having a some around its arm upon evoluton. Booburn make their homes in the craters of a volcano.

[edit] In the Video Games

Booburn is the evolved form of Magmar. Magmar evolves into Booburn when traded while holding the Magma Boost item, which is furthermore only available when a Pokémon LeafGreen game cartridge is inserted into the Nintendo DS after beating the Elite Four and getting the National Dex. His base stat total is up to 540, with it Special Attack being its strongest stat, making it powerful indeed. It can learn all of Magby and Magmar's moves such as Flamethrower, Confuse Ray, and a new Fire-type attack, Smoke Erupt, which has a 30% chance of burning and lowering the foe's Attack stat as well as causing damage. It also gains along useful additions such as Thunderbolt, Solarbeam, and Earthquake to cover its weaknesses. Elekible also has the advances but has high attack power instead.
