Bola

A Bola (from Spanish and Portuguese word for ball)(Malay language[Bahasa Melayu] refer to ball) can be one of a number of things:

  • Bolas, a hunting weapon. It is mostly used in South America and consists of two or three heavy balls or stones tied to the ends of one or more lengths of cord or string.
  • A bola is a type of Western necktie.
  • Bola is also a volcano on the island of New Britain in Papua New Guinea
  • bola bola is a gambling game where a player has to guess the position of a small ball under one of three containers (cup, nutshell...), after the 'bank' has shuffled the containers around. See also Three-card Monte#Similar games]].
  • BOLA is a common fan abbreviation for Rage Against the Machine's third studio album released in 1999, The Battle of Los Angeles.
  • Bola is the performing pseudonym of Darrell Fitton, a British electronic musician signed to Skam Records.
  • Bola is an abbreviated form of some Nigerian names such as Abimbola, Adebola, Bolaji, Bolanle and much more... some bearers have adopted the umlaut on the o Böla to correctly emphasise the right pronunciation of the name. Bola in the Nigerian language of Yoruba means "honour"
  • bola found on food reference sites (1) as an alcoholic drink mixture of brandy and fruit, (2) beef shoulder (in a recipe for sausages, pork-free), and (3) a kind (not sure if it is a brand or a vintage) of wine.
