Boissieu (or Boissieux) is a french proper name coming from the south-east of France (Auvergne, Lyon, Alpes) probably meaning "woody place" ("bois" means wood in french).

- A family "de Boissieu" (originary from Forez, near Lyon, in the 16e century - and may be from Auvergne before) has many living members today. This family includes :
