Boisar is a town in Thane district in the state of Maharashtra, India.

Boisar is located at 19.8° N 72.75° E^[1]. It has an average elevation of 10 metres (32 feet).

Boisar is located 45 km north of Virar on the Western Railway line of Mumbai Suburban Railway. It can be reached from National Highway NH-4, 22 km off from Pelhar Phata.

As of 2001 India census^GRIndia, Boisar had a population of 14,684. Males constitute 56% of the population and females 44%. Boisar has an average literacy rate of 77%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 83% and female literacy of 69%. 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Tarapur Industrial Estate, the premium industrial area, is located nearby. The huge industrial area accommodates various specialty chemical, bulk drugs, steel and alloy and textile manufacturing companies.

The working environment is good and basic infrastructure like roads, power, water and availability of manpower is available.

India's first nuclear power plant, Tarapur Atomic Power Station, is located 12km away from Boisar. BHABA ATOMIC RESEARCH CENTRE (B.A.R.C) is also located close by.

Tarapur Industrial Estate has proposed a gas fired power station at Tarapur Industrial Area.

Boisar is fine residential location. Very good schools, shopping complexes, multiplexes and hotels are located here.

Rented cars/taxis, state transport buses (Maharashtra State Transport Corporation) and auto rickshaws are the general mode of transport. Boisar also has many good beaches, the most loved one is "Chinchani". These beaches are not crowded and clean for people to enjoy! There are many chiku farms that one can visit.
