[edit] Plot

After a few months since the last episode of season 7, Kitty, Donna, and Fez begin recording a tape for Eric to tell him about everything that has happened while he has been gone. While they are recording, Kelso is looking for Hyde, who has gone missing since he saw Kelso with Jackie in a suspicious scene at a motel room.

During the recording, it is revealed that during the months that had passed the gang was caught smoking and all the basement was searched for drugs. In the process, Kitty goes to flush down the hidden stashes only to experiment herself and get caught by Red. Also, Red celebrated the day after Eric left by dancing and breaking one of Eric's Star Wars toys. Red later however admits he does miss his son to Kitty, who secretly hides the recorder near her after Red refuses to say he missed Eric on tape.

While recording, Kitty says she is very sad that he was gone only to be immediately cheered up at the sight of Hyde's return. Kelso quickly runs into Hyde, although Hyde punches Kelso in the face. They make up and become friends again. Soon after Jackie comes in wanting to talk to Hyde hoping to explain the whole mistaken ordeal. Hyde, after so many times in the past refusing to talk about their future or marriage, tells Jackie he does want to get married but in the future. Things look to be back to normal only to be disrupted by the doorbell, in which a girl named Samantha comes in looking for Hyde. Hyde remembers having spent time with Samantha in Las Vegas where he went during his disappearance. Samantha then tells everybody they're married, causing Jackie to run out of the room and leave everybody in shock.

[edit] Trivia

  • The title is a reference to Bohemian Rhapsody, an iconic song by Queen.
  • It originally aired as a one-hour episode, with the episode Somebody to Love.
  • Charlie, the son of an old friend of Red's who appeared in the last few episodes of Season 7, is revealed in a flashback to have been killed by falling off the infamous Water Tower, which has appeared in numerous episodes over the course of the series. It is a running gag in the show that every time the gang goes up on the Water Tower, someone will fall off; however, this marks the only instance when someone actually died from the fall.
  • The end of the intro still shows a license plate, but now there is no year on it.
  • The opening titles are changed starting with this episode. Instead of the gang singing in the car, the camera does a 360 shot around the circle, in which each cast member sings a line from the song, except Kurtwood Smith who instead gives a look of disgust as the camera pans to him. On the note of Kurtwood Smith, remembering all of the other opening title sequences, he is the only cast member to never sing. Also, when it shifts over to Leo (Tommy Chong), for the "Hello Wisconsin!" part, he just stares and says nothing, true to his personality.
