From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Boggabri is a small town in north-western New South Wales, Australia in Narrabri Shire Council, near Gunnedah and Narrabri. Its population lies around 1000.
The name Boggabri comes from Gamilaraay bagaaybaraay, literally "having creeks". The same "creek" element is found in the name of Boggabilla.
Boggabri's main tourist attraction is Gin's Leap, so-called after a story of an Aboriginal girl who jumped from the cliff while trying to escape a group of men in the 17th or 18th century.
The town is served by the daily Countrylink Xplorer service between Sydney and Moree.
