Boaz Ellis

Boaz Ellis (born October 15, 1981 in the moshav of Tzippori in Israel) is a champion fencer, specializing in the foil. He is a five-time Israeli national champion, and after his junior year at the Ohio State University is a three-time NCAA champion. In 2007 he will attempt to win an unprecedented fourth NCAA championship in the sport.
Ellis attended Chaklai Nahalal High School, where he competed in association football (soccer) and in track as a sprinter. He joined the Israeli national fencing team at the age of 16. In addition to his five national championships, Ellis earned the silver medal at the World Cup in 2000 and 2001.
In 2003 Ellis enrolled at Ohio State, where he began competing under head coach Vladimir Nazlymov. Ellis was dominating as a freshman, winning his first 34 bouts and finishing with a 37-1 record. He won the 2004 championship by defeating the Yale junior Cory Werk. Ellis' performance also helped Ohio State win the team NCAA title that year.
Ellis repeated as NCAA champion in foil in 2005 and 2006. In 2006 he and teammate Adam Crompton (sabre) became the first Ohio State athletes, in any sport, to win three individual NCAA championships. Ellis will attempt to win his fourth in March 2007.
Ellis is majoring in finance, and has been academic all-conference in the Big Ten.
