Boğazkale
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Boğazkale (formerly known as Boğazköy) is a district of Çorum Province, Turkey, in central Anatolia. It is the site of the ancient Hittite capital, Hattusa.
Since the beginning of the 20th century modern archaeologists have been excavating the Hattusa site, and have discovered a rich array of cuneiform inscribed tablets, along with architectural remains of temples, gateways, cemeteries and other buildings. Because of its rich historic and architectural heritage, Boğazkale is a member of the Norwich-based European Association of Historic Towns and Regions (EAHTR).[1]
