BMG Music Canada

BMG Music Canada is located in Scarborough, Ontario

When the company merged with Sony Music Canada to create Sony BMG Music Canada Inc. , the new company relocated to Toronto in January, 2004.

Previously working for Henri Dès albums, it acquired the Lanoraie-based Interdisc Distribution Inc. to form BMG Québec, in 1990, originally as BMG Musique du Québec with Nicolas Ferrier as the prime mover.

  • 1970: Company formed.
  • 1982: Acquires RCA Victor Ltd. to make BMG Music Canada.
  • 1983: Acquires RCA Records.
  • 1984: Creates a label called Ariola with BMG International, N.V.
  • 1990: Acquires Interdisc Distribution Inc. to form BMG Québec.
  • 2004: Merges with Sony Music Canada.
