[edit] Finding copyright violations
It's usually pretty simple. First of all, the complete lack of formatting in that article made it look like an obvious cut-and-paste job. From there, I cut-and-paste an entire sentence or two into Google, put quote marks around the sentence(s), and search. (If you don't use the quote marks, Google will treat each word of the sentence independently). Cheers, Jasmol 00:52, 1 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Barnstar
Thank you for your work reverting vanadlism, including CSD's! xaosflux T/C 02:40, 2 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] journal-stub
Appreciate the notice, but it will need to be fixed. The consensus was that if created, it should include journals for all academic disciplines, not just those for science with a possible later split into sub types. Caerwine 06:21, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
- I'm glad to see you agree with the proposed fix. However, there is no need to volunteer for a simple restubbing all articles from one template to another template. The project does have a bot available that can do that. Manual edits are really only needed when splitting a stub type. Caerwine 06:56, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Taxonomy
Good question.
The species lists in family etc type articles are mainly based on the on-line lists from Handbook of Birds of the World. NAm and GB follow AOU and BOU respectively, and most of the other regional/country lists follow Avibase's Clements version, if only because I created most of them. For greatest consistency, I'd recommend Clements. Asian birds sounds like a major task, I found list of birds of the Indian subcontinent a major task!

- I've looked at your list, which is a real achievement. One problem is that Avibase uses many Americanised names even for Old World species, and also uses wierd hyphenated forms, so there are many links like Gray Heron, Gray Partridge and American Golden-Plover which need redirecting or changing to the more accepted names for these species. - I've fixed a few more links either by name changes or redirects. These have basically been ones where I know the article exists, so I am sure that there are still some red links that need fixing. Jim
[edit] Thanks for reverting my userpage
Thanks a lot. It's always glad to know that there are people like you watching for bad edits. Cheers, Ingoolemo talk 16:49, 5 December 2005 (UTC)
- Oh, by the way, it seems that you've written a Javascript rollback tool. You might be interested in altering the links to the vandal from linking to the userpage to the contributions page. Good luck, Ingoolemo talk 19:29, 5 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Template:Cleanup
I was JUST about to revert that vandalism, thanks for doing it.... very strange vandaliser. Gryffindor 23:29, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] DYK
Did you know? has been updated. A fact from the article Munich Frauenkirche, which you recently created, has been featured in that section on the Main Page. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page. |
[edit] Welcome to the Welcoming Committee
I see you've created a fancy welcome template that automatically mentions new users' contributions. That's a good way to make your welcomes more personal. Keep up the good work. --TantalumTelluride 00:16, 10 December 2005 (UTC)
