[edit] Remember to source images you upload

Remember to add a short description, the source of the image, and why it's used, for each image you upload per Wikipedia:Uploading images and Wikipedia:Image use policy#Rules of thumb. For example, in the description for Image:Dorimon.JPG you could write:

This is a picture of a Digimon called Dorimon. The picture is used to identify it. The image was found on http://www.nameofawebsite.com/thatyoufounditfrom/image.jpg

If you didn't find the image on a web site, but instead created it yourself you can simply say something like "card or manga scan by Blue Mage" or "screen shot taken from episode one of Digimon by Blue Mage"

Other examples of how you can write up the source and description info can be found at Wikipedia:Uploading images.

We do this for images because they're copyrighted and are being used as Fair use. Although most Digimon-related images currently don't have this information, we should all try our best to make sure the information is added to all new images, as well as trying to find sources for the old ones.

Other than that, you've been doing an awesome job working on the Digimon articles! Thanks for all the hard work! -- Ned Scott 22:12, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

Actually, I feel the same way, that the digimonimage tag covered all the needed info. But not to long ago a source dispute broke out: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Digimon Systems Update/archive2#Image:Toko.jpg. Even though it's a bit silly, seeing as most Digimon web sites got the image from some other web site or Bandai directly, there are wikipedians out there who feel a more exact source is required. So doing this helps protect the images from being deleted for "not having a source". I wouldn't worry about it too much, since it doesn't happen often, but when you can, try to add as much info as you can about where an image came from. -- Ned Scott 02:59, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:ShineGreymon.JPG)

Thanks for uploading Image:ShineGreymon.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Nilfanion (talk) 23:41, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
