[edit] Summary
Roy (played by Abhishek Bachchan) is a professional conman (bluffmaster in Indian English), who is a master of his dubious "art." He is in love with the honest and true "Simmi" (played by Priyanka Chopra). She breaks off the relationship when she finds out the truth about Roy.
Then Roy meets "Aditya Srivastav" alias "Dittu" (played by Ritesh Deshmukh). Aditya is a conman too, though an incompetent one. Roy agrees to teach Aditya the art of the con. This altruistic gesture opens up Roy's heart even further; he develops a true friendship for Aditya.
Then Roy is told that he has a brain tumor and will die soon. He decides to perform one last good deed -- to help Aditya avenge himself upon his father's enemies. He proves willing to sacrifice his life for those he loves ... and then finds that he himself has been conned, into choosing good rather than bad.
The movie is primarily inspired from the Argentine movie, Nueve reinas (Nine Queens) and the Hollywood movie Matchstick Men.
[edit] Trivia
- When Roy and Dittu attempt a con in a cinema hall, the movie playing is Ramesh Sippy's hit film Shaan.
- Usually all singing in Bollywood films is done by playback singers. Abhishek did one song in his own voice, Right Here Right Now, a rap song.
- When Roy's car is stolen, Roy boards a taxi with the licence plate MH-O1-9211, which is a reference to another Ramesh Sippy film Taxi Number 9211
- The song Bittersweet Symphony appears during several scenes in the film.
