Welcome to Sky Valley (1994) |
Blues for the Red Sun is a 1992 (see 1992 in music) album by stoner metal band Kyuss. It is named after episode five of Carl Sagan's Cosmos, entitled "Blues for a Red Planet". It is one of the earliest pioneering recordings in stoner metal, a bass-heavy, grungey form of heavy metal. Along with Holy Mountain by Sleep and Spine of God by Monster Magnet, it is considered one of the pillars of stoner metal.
Kyuss is known for its mellow metal yet in 2001 Q magazine named it as one of the 50 Heaviest Albums Of All Time.
