Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC), located in Lexington, KY, is one of 16 two-year, open-admissions colleges of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS). It was formed from the consolidation of two separate institutions: Lexington Community College and Central Kentucky Technical College. Until 2004, it was considered a part of the University of Kentucky's Community College System, until a vote by the trustees transferred governance to KCTCS. BCTC is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

BCTC's main campus, the Cooper Campus, is located next to the University of Kentucky campus and dorms, in the shadow of Commonwealth Stadium. Interestingly, BCTC has a large international student base with students attending from Europe, Jordan, Turkey and many other nations.

[edit] Campuses

BCTC maintains six campus locations:

BCTC's main campus in Lexington consists of three buildings. The Oswald Building is the main building, consisting of classrooms, administrative offices, as well as a cafeteria and a bookstore. The Academic Technical building is mostly classrooms, and the Moloney Building contains more classrooms as well as several computer labs.

[edit] Relationship with University of Kentucky

BCTC students are still very connected to UK, depending upon it for parking passes as well as having access to residence halls and student tickets for athletic events. Many students attend BCTC for the purpose of transferring to the University of Kentucky and only take classes at BCTC that will transfer to the University, never earning a degree at BCTC.
