Edward Blonz earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in nutrition from the University of California at Davis, and he has more than twenty-five years of experience in health and nutrition. His Master's was on a topic in food toxicology, and his Doctoral study related to aspects of the role of insulin in the development of obesity. Formerly on the faculty at the University of Minnesota, Blonz is a Fellow of the American College of Nutrition, a Fellow of NAASO, The Obesity Society, and a Certified Nutrition Specialist. He works as a scientific journalist and researcher, and is also a legal consultant and expert witness for nutrition, biochemical and physiological issues on claims, uses and effects of dietary supplements and related compounds. Clients for his work in this area include the Federal Trade Commission, and District Attorneys in the State of California. Dr. Blonz was appointed to the Dietary Supplement Advisory Committee of the Food and Drug Administration, U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.

His syndicated column, "On Nutrition," goes to newspapers all over the country as well as internationally, and his articles have appeared in magazines as well. Ed has written seven books on foods, nutrition and health, and has won the James Beard Foundation Award for writing on diet, nutrition and health. Edward Blonz offers a unique twist on health, one that helps to demystify complex issues while providing fresh perspectives on foods and nutrition. He has been featured on the CBS news shows "48 Hours" and "Day & Date," and NBC's "Real Life," and has been called "a voice of reason in the midst of confusing and often-conflicting claims." He resides in Northern California, with his wife and son.
