Blessed Trinity Catholic High School, also known as Blessed Trinity or, informally, merely BT, is an Archdiocesan Catholic high school in a northern suburb of Atlanta, GA, Roswell. It is located near Georgia 400 Exit 7B Roswell/Holcomb Bridge Road.

Blessed Trinity is a college preparatory secondary school, established through Catholic Education of North Georgia, Inc. (CENGI). The school exists to foster students in the areas of spiritual, emotional, intellectual, social, and physical growth. The school community focuses on religious and secular matters, but uses all knowledge to come to a greater understanding about God, and the doctrines of the Catholic Church. Blessed Trinity Catholic High School is available to students regardless of race, color, disability, gender, national origin, or ethnicity. Students of all faiths are invited to attend Blessed Trinity; Catholic students receive priority in admissions.

The Multi-level Curriculum provides Advanced Placement, Honors, Academic, and Concepts classes to fit the needs of each student. The curriculum grew over the first four years to over 130 courses, including 14 Advanced Placement offerings. The fine arts program, which began with study in visual art, dance and vocal music, expanded to include a comprehensive drama program and 65-piece symphonic band. “Meet Me in St. Louis” was the first musical, staged in April 2004.

The school has experienced unprecedented growth since its inception, reaching 875 students in the 2004-2005 school year. The class of 2007 includes 2 National Merit Semifinalists.

Blessed Trinity also has one of the best sports medicine programs out of all Georgia high schools. Blessed Trinity's sports medicine program staffs approximately fifteen student athletic trainers who are commanded by an ATC. The department also includes a unique unit of specialized trained student athletic trainers known as the Blessed Trinity Sports Medicine Trauma Unit. Unique only to Blessed Trinity when compared to other local high school, these members are trained above the standard first aid and CPR. In 2006, Blessed Trinity will be adding a sports medicine and athletic training class to its course list.

[edit] History

The exponential growth in the Catholic population in metro Atlanta, during the 1990's, caused the demand for quality Catholic education to increase dramatically. In response to this demand, Archbishop John Francis Donoghue established Catholic Construction Services, Inc. (CCSI), in the fall of 1997, to facilitate the construction of additional Catholic schools.

On January 29, 1999 Archbishop Donoghue broke ground on a new archdiocesan high school, Blessed Trinity. The construction of the school was overseen by Project Manager Allen Kronenberger of CCSI who commissioned Hussey, Gay, Bell and DeYoung International, Inc. of Savannah as architects for the project.

Blessed Trinity opened in August of 2000 with a total enrollment of 219 students, 164 freshmen and 55 sophomores. The school's positive reputation led to its rapid growth, enrollment increasing to 465 by the second year, 680 in the third, 840 in the fourth, and 875 in the fifth. Blessed Trinity's first graduation occurred on May 24, 2003 in the theater, marking the beginning of a powerful legacy.
