[edit] Recording Career
Shelton moved to Nashville, Tennessee from his hometown of Ada, Oklahoma at the age of 17 and received a record contract with Warner Bros. Records. He reached the top of the Billboard country chart with "Austin", the first single from his eponymous debut album. The single tied a record set by Billy Ray Cyrus. Blake also has a hit with the single, "The Baby", which was released on his sophomore album The Dreamer in 2003.
Shelton released a DVD of music videos on October 19, 2004 titled, Blake Shelton's Barn & Grill: Video Collection, and preceded his latest CD release, Blake Shelton's Barn & Grill. In 2005 he toured extensively in support of the album including a coveted opening spot on Rascal Flatts's sold-out Here's to You tour which also featured Shelly Fairchild.
On December 18, 2005, several songs of Shelton's, including Nobody But Me appeared on the Tv movie, The Christmas Blessing, starring Neil Patrick Harris, Rebecca Gayheart, Angus T. Jones, and Rob Lowe. Blake had a small role at the end of the movie, playing himself at a benefit concert, singing Nobody But Me.
Blake also has a cameo in the video for Craig Morgan's single, "Redneck Yacht Club." He can be seen standing in a boat fishing when Craig rides by on his Jet Ski. The Jet Ski causes a large wave which splashes Blake.
