Blake Mitchell is a quarterback for the South Carolina Gamecocks football team.
On September 13, 2006, South Carolina coach, Steve Spurrier, suspended Mitchell after he was arrested for allegedly assaulting a bouncer at a bar in Columbia.
On September 15, the charges against Mitchell were dropped, and he was reinstated to the team though no longer as the starting quarterback. [1]
On November 4, 2006, Mitchell was inserted back into action, replacing an inneffective Syvelle Newton in the second half against then 12th ranked Arkansas. Down 26-6 at the half Mitchell rallied the Gamecocks with touchdown drives of 92 and 99 yards. The comeback attempt fell just short as the South Carolina lost 26-20.
The following Monday Spurrier named Mitchell the starter for the game against 4th ranked Florida on November 11
