Black and Mild
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Black and Mild is a pipe tobacco cigar brand, produced by John Middleton, Inc., a tobacco company in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.
Black and Milds come with plastic tips to smoke from and are filled with pipe tobacco. They are shaped like a cigarillo. According to the United States Government Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, they are the preferred cigar of African-Americans at 56%[1]. The Black and Mild five pack are the top selling cigar package in the U.S., as of September 2004 according to ACNielsen.[2]
Middleton Cigars who produce Black and Mild also provide numerous different flavors, including Black and Mild Mild, Black and Mild Cherry, Black and Mild Apple, Gold and Mild, and the recently introduced Black and Mild Cream.
Other Uses Black & Mild cigars can also be "freaked" which means dumping out the tobacco and removing the harsh filter paper it is wrapped in. After removing the filter paper, the tobacco is placed back into the cigar for a more pleasurable smoke. This is a tedious process, but well worth the time for a better smoke. This process was developed by inmates. Black & Mild cigars are also popular instruments for the smoking of marijuana, and facilitate the smoking of it by the ease with which marijuana can be rolled into the Black & Mild. Additional factors that make the Black & Mild popular for smoking marijuana is the added pleasurable taste of the cigar wrapper, as well as the plastic tip, which reduces the smell of burnt marijuana on the fingertips and can aid smoking the last part of the cigar in a way similar to a roach clip.
