Black Belt (region of Chicago)

The Black Belt of Chicago was a term in popular use during the middle part of the 20th century. It described an area of Chicago, where most African-Americans in Chicago lived, who had moved to Chicago from the Black Belt Region of America. The term was used extensively in the classic African-American novel Native Son.
