Black-Hat (Judaism)

The term black hat is often used to refer to the more right-wing branches of Orthodox Judaism , whose male members are often known for wearing black hats. This includes chassidim, chareidim, and many more conservative members of Modern Orthodox Judaism (such as the roshei yeshiva at Yeshiva University. The term is used both by those who consider themselves black-hat and by those outside the black-hat community, particularly among other groups of Orthodox Jews.
