[edit] Say what?

It makes a huge amount of sense to start out describing Bludhaven in terms of Gotham City. Everybody knows who Batman is, at least everybody who would be vaguely interested in this article. -- SamSim 22:25, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Blüdhaven in other media

I propose starting a new section titled Blüdhaven in other media. It has been alluded for several years in the DCAU that Nightwing had been established in his own city, including The New Batman Adventures, Batman Beyond, and its feature film Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. This was finally confirmed in the 2006 Justice League Unlimited episode "Grudge Match." Blüdhaven has also been mentioned in name only on the live-action Smallville television series. --Captain Cook 01:34, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

OK. So do it. --Chris Griswold 12:23, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Haven and Avalon Counties

Any source material that actually references this? I'd like to know where this was found.--Vito Delsante 12:44, 24 June 2006 (UTC) The source for Haven County would be Nightwing Secret Files and Origins # 1. Avalon County comes from an issue of the most recent Batgirl series. Can't recall which one specifically, just yet. -- DEW 21:08, 22 August 2006 (EST)

[edit] Map of Blüdhaven

There is a scan of the map from Nightwing Secret Files and Origins # 1 at this website. Could it be usable for Wikipedia purposes on the legal and legibility fronts? -- DEW 28 July 2006

[edit] Revisions

Although CharlesKnight did a great job of polishing up lots of parts ofthe article, it still seems to be written from a generally 'in universe' perspecctive. I'd suggest looking at Gotham City for some ideas. About a month ago (maybe more?) There was a user, josiah Rowe, I think, who asked that we edit it to out of universe perspective. I took that on, and then asked various editors, including the requester, for thoughts, and my improvements were well recieved. I'm not suggesting my style's the only way, but that you might want to look at the progress we (the gotham editing team for that change) made, and how we made it. I think there are some links in the talk regarding the perspective and you could probably sift through the history for the step by steps, though again, that just shows you my style, and mine's not yours. But it's good to see these DC Geography articles being cleaned up nicely.ThuranX 14:43, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

I agree, and I've tagged this for cleanup. I've been fiddling a little, but yeah, this puppy needs help! I know it's a smoking hole in the ground now, but still ;) -- Ipstenu (talk|contribs) 19:26, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
The city, or the article? lol ... hmmm... maybe that can be the opener...'although it's now a sewage filled crater..." ThuranX 21:36, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
Let's start with the basics - is the current structure (as in headings and sub-heads) how we'd like it? If not suggestions?

--Charlesknight 21:41, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

I revised the fictional geography and early histories. I worked he fictional Geography section to synch with the same sections of the Gotham City article, including the deliberate vagueness of writers over time, while noting htat all writers place the two cities close together. Take a look. I'm leaving the destruction section alone for a bit, but I think it's a bit too large, while other sections are lacking entirely. ThuranX 22:11, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] part two

I revised the first part of the destruction of Blüdhaven. I dropped the part about the cities of north america for a couple reasons... one, i've never seen anything which supports the text. Two, since DC's casualty numbers in these things tend to 'flex' for different writers, the ordering might change. Three, I wonder about other things, like the destruction caused by the landing ofthe city of Haven. Four, on the global scale, some of these might not stack up to the loss of Montevideo in JLA, or the destruction of Atlantis, the (onetime) losses of Skartaris and Gemworld, and so on. there's too many 'steps' or 'levels' for making serious distinctions. [edit] Etymology

The word Blüdhaven kind of suggests "blood harbor" in some obscure faux Germano-Nordic tongue, but don't know where to mention it. knoodelhed 07:37, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

nowhere without some real evidence instead of sort of's. This article takes a beating with fan speculation as it is. bring in the linguists and the pseudolinguists will go nuts. ThuranX 22:46, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
I hear ya. Right here seems to be good enough. ^^ knoodelhed 07:16, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
