Bjurholm Municipality

Bjurholm is a municipality in Västerbotten County, in northern Sweden, in the Ångermanland province. The municipality covers an area of 1316.9 km². Its seat is in Bjurholm, with 1,000 inhabitants.
Bjurholm is the least populated of all Swedish municipalities. Of the total population of 2695, 1397 are male, and 1298 are female. The population density of the community is 2 inhabitants per km².
The nearest city is Umeå, situated 60 kilometers north-east (by the shore).
The Bjurholm Municipality was joined with its eastern neighbour Vännäs Municipality with the latest reform in 1974. In 1983 it was decided to split them up again.
The municipality has the lowest number of reported crimes. In 2001, 36 crimes were reported.
