Bjärv

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bjärv is a modern folk ensemble from Sweden.

Mikael Grafson plays guitar and is from Ångermanland, Sweden; Fiddler Olaf Gothlin is from Varmland, Sweden; Ben Lagerberg-Teitelbaum is from Evergreen, Colorado and plays nyckelharpa. After being awarded Sweden’s Eric Sahlström scholarship in 2000, Ben was invited to attend a music academy, where he met Olaf and Mikael and Bjärv was born.

The band's name is a portmanteau of the Swedish words for bear and wolverine.

They played at the California Worldfest in 2003, and in 2004 they had a tour of the USA.
