Biwabik is a city in St. Louis County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 954 at the 2000 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 13.2 km² (5.1 mi²). 12.4 km² (4.8 mi²) of it is land and 0.9 km² (0.3 mi²) of it (6.65%) is water.

As of the census2 of 2000, there were 954 people, 454 households, and 266 families residing in the city. The population density was 77.2/km² (199.9/mi²). There were 492 housing units at an average density of 39.8/km² (103.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 97.59% White, 2.10% Native American, 0.10% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, and 0.10% from two or more races.

There were 454 households out of which 25.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.1% were married couples living together, 9.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 41.4% were non-families. 37.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.09 and the average family size was 2.69.

In the city the population was spread out with 20.8% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 26.6% from 25 to 44, 25.4% from 45 to 64, and 20.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 92.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.9 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $28,359, and the median income for a family was $37,386. Males had a median income of $41,250 versus $21,136 for females. The per capita income for the city was $16,182. About 11.7% of families and 17.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 29.9% of those under age 18 and 11.1% of those age 65 or over.
