[edit] Image:Baqa'a.jpg
I noticed you said this photo was taken by your friend. Would your friend consider putting the image under a free license, such as cc-by-sa-2.5 or GFDL, or possibly both? Thanks for your contributions.--Pharos 13:10, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
- He would legally retain his copyright and would have to be credited (perhaps you would want to give his name so this is possible, or not), but the image would generally otherwise be free for anyone to use. For details, you can read the full texts of the licenses. We request this because we are trying to make our work here as free and usable by others as possible, and so there is a policy against using images that are only allowed here "by permission". Fair use is really meant for copyrighted work published by others that we have to justify using in an individual instance as something otherwise unreproducible and used appropriately in context: for example, an organization's logo, a historic photograph, or the front cover of a magazine (again, this depends on context). And thanks for listening to all of this legal stuff.--Pharos 21:02, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
