The Bishop of Woolwich is a suffragan bishop, serving under the Bishop of Southwark, serving the Woolwich episcopal area. The position is currently held by Christopher Chessun. One of the best known former bishops is John A. T. Robinson, who was a major figure in liberal Christianity.
