Bishop Ireton High School is a Catholic High School located in Alexandria, Virginia. The school was founded in 1964 and at the time, admitted only male students. Bishop Ireton, more commonly known as "BI", was established by the Oblates of St. Francis DeSales, an order of Catholic priests. In 1991 the school merged with sister school St. Mary's Academy, and began taking female students and has since been a coeducational school. Bishop Ireton is known for its focus on the liberal arts. Students are strongly encouraged to participate in a wide range of activities including but not limited to athletics, drama, and band. Bishop Ireton is controlled by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Arlington.

The school is run by the principal, and like most high schools, administrative duties are divided, department by department. Student leadership is organised like this:
Executive Board: Five Members, Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors. They run the OSG. Seniors: Four Juniors: Four Sophomores: Four Freshman: Four
The House: One member from each homeroom. The Excutive Board leads the House meetings. The House members then report annoucements to their homerooms

Bishop Ireton High School reported a graduation rate of 100% for the 2005-2006 academic year. Of those graduating seniors, 98% went on to attend a college or university. Students may choose from College Prep classes, Honors classes or Advanced Placement.

Bishop Ireton competes in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference which is home to schools like Gonzaga College High School and DeMatha Catholic High School. The Bishop Ireton Music Department is a highly competitive program which features a Choir, an orchestra, a concert band and a wind ensemble. The program was started by Dr. Garwood Whaley and is currently under the leadership of Dr. Randy Eyles. Each spring, Wind Ensemble goes on tour in Europe, and the Concert Band goes on a stateside tour. L
